don’t like rhymes
whenever i hear rhymes, be it in a song, a poem, or a slogan, i cannot help but envision someone bruting over a line of text and trying different words that “would work”. like a good line is something you find with the trial and error approach.
a rhyme is just a superficial connection between words, the cheapest connection there is. the easiest to get.
then there is melody. some words share melody. that is better, but i am having a hard time describing what i mean. i do not even have an example. forgive me, as it is early in the morning.
truth. truth is what endows text with instant beauty. well chosen words, rid of redundancies, empty words, or softeners. it is the condensed verbalisation of a feeling. it does not matter if it rhymes. you read it. it hits you. you feel it in your stomach, on your skin that gets bumpy, and it makes you stop for a second to take the breath, that had been taken from you while reading.
you know the person who wrote it, did not even own a dictionary to look up words that might work. s/he knew without knowing. s/he felt. now you feel.
